The new 10th generation iPad is different!

The new 10th-generation iPad is different!

I've spent some time getting to grips with this iPad, and I've never been confused by so many choices in a new product.

So it's the new 10th generation baseline iPad and it's one of those bright new colours and it's got a slightly new design, it's gone without the overall improved home button, it's the more familiar rectangular shape. Now the new colours are saturated with flat sides, it's yellow here, but there's also pink and blue on top.

So, you get a slightly larger 11-inch LCD screen up front with landscape stereo speakers, an 8- to 12-megapixel camera on the back, and biometric unlocking, albeit without the A14 Bionic chip inside.

New but it's a step up from the a13 Bionic in the 9th gen iPad so nothing confusing They're modernizing the baseline iPad better but that's where some of the weirdness starts, first upgrading to USB type c. Finally, now it's not Thunderbolt speed or anything, but now you can finally plug in USBC flash drives, you can charge fast, and you can even plug in an external display up to 4K 30hz or 1080p 60hz.

I've been asking to get USBC on a basic iPad, and now it's great. This is confusing because they also announced that this iPad will support the first-generation Apple Pencil. Now change USBC to USB.

The USB to Lightning adapter is required to charge the pencil, which I'm sure no one will miss, and it also comes in this separate packaging, which doesn't come in the iPad box or the Apple Pencil box.

The packaging is a bit more wasteful, but if you ever lose it and need another nine bucks. But I'm still thinking like Apple, you made a new Pencil, the second-gen Pencil, which is a great second-generation Pencil that snaps onto the side of an iPad Air or iPad Pro with magnets and wireless charging.

I feel like that's where it's at, and I've seen every version of it in my head, but basically what I came up with is that some people would say, Apple is going to have groups of people from business schools. Have an old ninth-generation iPad, they have pencils, and they'll want to keep using those pencils.

When they upgrade to this new iPad, that's why I'd say they'll favour the old Apple Pencil and those guys, but I'd say you don't lose both. A longer bezel might be the best chance in this whole piece of hardware to move the iPad webcam to that long side.

So now when you're on video calls or doing anything while looking at the camera, it looks like you're looking at the camera from the side like on every other iPad, so that's a welcome change but now I mean,

there are magnets and a cutout well where you'd normally slap the second-generation Apple Pencil, which Now's populated by the webcam housing, the other side has the smart pins,

which I'll get to in a second, then the top and bottom speakers Apple likes to put off the two sides like that asymmetric you know or just have room for the cutouts Apple came out with their new M2 iPod Pro. Also taking centre stage is a 12-megapixel ultra-wide webcam.

But it's not moved to the long side, it's still on that side, which leads me to believe that Apple sees this as a direct compromise, you can have the new Apple Pencil, which will charge on top, or you can run the webcam on the long side, one or the other but not both, with the webcam in the right place.

I don't think we'll ever see a complete iPad Pro, so Apple has dropped something completely new for those who want a little more from the baseline iPad.

I like the redesigned two-piece Magic Keyboard Folio for the iPad, this first part is like a back plate that attaches to the iPad with magnets and then acts as a kickstand, which is very useful.

Piece It's a new keyboard with a new fully functional array, so now the smart connector pins are on the side edge instead of the back so you can slap on or remove the keyboard at any time and go straight.

I Pad So there is this two-piece structure its advantages and disadvantages the main disadvantage is that it is not laughable, it is more suitable for working on a desk or a more stable surface due to the distribution of weight.

But the good thing is that it's two pieces and it's modular, so now you can go straight to the kickstand if you want to watch a movie or show hands-free, or you can add a keyboard whenever you want to type or if you want.

Be mobile, but take the keyboard with you so you can flip the keyboard so you don't have to hold those buttons on the back every time, that's great, I like the idea, but there are a couple more.

This new two-piece setup didn't come to the new iPad Pro for some reason, and if you want those function keys that you want for the iPad Pro, I think it's only for this iPad.

This iPad doesn't get Stage Manager, you know that Stage Manager is amazing or something, but it would have been nice for those who wanted to plug USB into an external monitor and use a little more window management.

That multitasking is going on but this oh I won't make it weird but the biggest head-scratcher of all is getting the price right, so it's still a $250 keyboard and case accessory and then here's this new iPad starting at four hundred and fifty dollars.

A big price jump from the 9th gen iPad, the 330 remains unchanged in Apple's lineup since we upgraded, which might be kind of a hot take, but I don't understand why.

Bad Product It's a great iPad, it does all the things, it's got a new chip, it's got little things, it's got Wi-Fi six, now it's got a better display, it's USB, new colours, it's thinner.

it's a tablet it's okay if you need a basic iPad it's weird to me that this person is still like oh I'd like to get a basic iPad that's the businesses in schools' moms to get it to put it in a big foam box and hand it over I'm I To watch videos like their baby still 329 9th gen iPad is an iPad it's a hundred dollars cheaper.

it's a great deal I recommend it to those people but the second you think I want a little more from my iPad to do a little more right I'm a fake I want to use it as a computer, oh it's a real computer The second you think there should be, it's not 64 gigs of real computer storage in the baseline in 2022, ago you bump up to real computer storage, and then it's 850 dollars.

What I'm saying is,

you can get an iPad Air for that price, you can get an iPad Pro for that price, and you can get a computer for that price, so it's a strange combination for that amount even without it. This iPad 64 gig in 2022 with a keyboard for $450 is very different, so in the end, it's a slightly different set of things.
